Modular HueForge Frame System
A modular frame that should connect with almost no thought, tolerate real walls, and avoid tiny loose hardware.
What I’m building
This started as a practical way to hang HueForge artwork without building a completely different frame every time. The deeper goal quickly became a reusable connection standard: frames that can be arranged, rearranged and extended without a special bag of clips for every configuration.
Early prototypes proved the basic frame quality, but also exposed a classic trap: a connector can be mechanically valid and still be annoying enough to kill the product.
What I’ve learned so far
- Continuous or broadly accessible interfaces beat fiddly retention pieces.
- Mounting tolerances accumulate, especially when neighbouring parts depend on perfect alignment.
- Change one mechanical parameter at a time during validation or the test stops telling you anything useful.

Layer by Layer
For the iterative bit: model it, print it, test it, change it, repeat until the physical object finally agrees with the idea.
What I’m testing now
- Validate the all-direction connection concept.
- Reduce dependence on wall-screw height and installation precision.
- Keep the proven interface geometry isolated from unrelated structural changes.
Release status
In development — no download yet. The connection and mounting behaviour are still being physically validated before a public release.
