Modular Cubicle Shelving
A shelf system that hangs over a cubicle partition, adjusts to different wall thicknesses and avoids permanent fixing.
What I’m building
I want shelves that can hang off the cubicle wall without drilling holes or permanently modifying anything. The top hook or clamp needs to carry the weight, while the lower connection gives me somewhere simple to attach shelves, braces and whatever other useful bit gets added later.
The annoying part is that not every partition is the same thickness. The mount therefore needs enough adjustment to grab securely without marking the wall or turning every new cubicle into another redesign.
What I’ve learned so far
- Make the top mount do the heavy lifting before worrying about clever accessories.
- An adjustable screw or clamp may cover several partition thicknesses, but the pad still needs to spread the pressure without chewing up the wall.
- Keep the lower connection simple enough that a new shelf or brace does not force me to redesign the whole top mount.
What I’m testing now
- Print small fit pieces before wasting plastic on a full shelf.
- Check that the clamp holds securely without leaving marks on the partition.
- Try the wider hook idea against a few narrower support options before committing to the full system.
Release status
In development — no download yet. The concept still needs physical fit, grip and load testing before I can call any part of it proven.
